God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah
Psalm 46:1-3 ESV
I miss simplicity. I miss looking forward to softball in spring and smacking the ball for the first hit of the season. I miss looking forward to weekend sleepovers when the biggest worry was which movie to rent at the local Blockbuster. I miss playing for hours on end with my dollhouse my Dad built me with electricity, real hardwood flooring, and wall paper. The simplicity of life that I once savored has gotten quite complicated. Losses seem to be at every turn. Difficult losses of loved ones, loss of youth and innocence, and at times, an overwhelming loss of feeling like everything is going to be ok. But that’s when I realize what I’m actually missing. I may be missing the joys of simpler times, but I really am missing where my security is found.
My security is not in simple circumstances without trouble. My security is found in a Savior. My security isn’t found in things staying the same, but in a God who stays the same during constant change and challenge. I can experience all the ups and downs of life, but Jesus is simply my security. He paid the price so that I know with certainty that this life isn’t it. I am secure in His arms while I’m here and I have Heaven to look forward to. It’s so simple but easy to lose sight of…Jesus is our salvation, our stronghold, and our security forever and ever. Amen.

Beautiful, Jill. One of the hardest things to do is be still. Stop. Be simple. Let the excess fall away. Say no to what God has not called us to do. Focus on His work. Focus on Him. Be blessed! ❤️
