For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. [18] So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
2 Corinthians 4:17-18 NIV
“This too shall pass” is a common saying. But when you are stuck in a moment where life is painful, uncertain, scary, and downright difficult, it’s not so easy to have that mentality. Why? Because we often look at this life and the moment we are currently in as all there is. But, that is not the truth that we, as Christians, cling to. We know that there is a heavenly hereafter where our temporary troubles will seem as though they never happened. It is hard to have this perspective and nearly impossible to always be thinking about how our earthly struggles are so minimal to the majesty we will experience in eternity.
But that is exactly why Paul is encouraging us to lift ourselves out of the hardship we are currently enduring and view it in the grand scheme of his beautiful and purposeful plan for your life. Although this life is all we truly know and have experience with, what we will experience in eternal glory will be so far beyond our expectations. This world does put us through the paces with all kinds of problems and pains that will hopefully develop perseverance. But beyond merely persevering, we have an ultimate hope that our Gracious God will take us to our true home where there is no trouble at all for our entire eternity.

Amen
