Anchored and Armored

‭‭‭‭Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

Ephesians 6: 11-18

When trials come and they always will
It can be hard to trust and just "be still"
But there has to be a conscious thought…
To give in to fear? Or simply to not?

It's not easy to face the days we're in
With those governed by evil attempting to win
So we look to equip ourselves with our best defense
In a world that often makes no sense

We must make it a point to hold tight to the truth
That Christ conquered death and God's love was proved.
His peace is ours for the taking
We must seek it out; stop the trembling and shaking

In faith we can take bold steps and walk
Ask for God's help - He is our Rock
Anchor ourselves in who our God is 
Not in the "what" or "why" of the situation we're in

The arrows will rain down and swords will clash
But we don't want fear to drive how we act
It is good to remember and good to rehearse…
"Our God is the God of the universe!"

There is nothing impossible for this God of ours
Who makes the sun rise and sets the stars
When we armor ourselves with what we know
We can ask for His help, to Him we can go…

Forward in faith as we continue the journey
Growing each day in the wisdom we're learning
From the One who has given us a shield and a sword
Don't be afraid to use them - we must move forward…

To accomplish what we were created for
For such times as this we were made to do more
Show more love in a world of hate
Show mercy to all, it's never too late

And one day all armor can drop to the floor
We won't need to fight evil - evil will be no more!
Our Father in heaven will bring perfect peace
And a joy, free from pain, which will never cease.

But until that day, anchor yourself in truth
Abide in Christ and He will abide in you
Our hope is in Him and He won't let you go
So hold on to Him and boldly go…
