Meditation and Message

Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise;
    his greatness no one can fathom. One generation commends your works to another;
    they tell of your mighty acts.    They speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty—
    and I will meditate on your wonderful works.

Psalm 145:3-5 NIV

It’s not easy to be in this world today and feel like everything is ok. History has always seen violence and evil in the hearts of humanity, but lately, that evil feels all the more prevalent and purposeful. There most certainly are spiritual battles being waged and fear can easily take hold. It would almost make sense to spiral into a hole of hopelessness, but that goes against every fiber of a faith-filled life rooted in Jesus Christ.

Things are not great. But God is. He is so great, majestic, and good, that we can’t understand how truly great He is. What dominates my thoughts lately? The world’s woeful state or the wondrous goodness of God? Do I meditate on his many mercies or fixate on a flawed world? Where is my focus?

Is it not my purpose to declare the amazing awesomeness of our Lord and Savior? While we can acknowledge the chaotic condition of society, it is our job to make sure we are declaring who God is in the midst of the mayhem. It is our role to recount the bountiful blessings He has bestowed in our lives. It is our duty to give God glory in our daily interactions, tell the truth of our loving Lord, and to not drown in despair over our current days.

Let God’s grace and goodness be the meditation of our minds. May His message of hope and redemption be made known to a world that needs Jesus more than ever.
