Receive His Peace

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

‭‭Luke‬ ‭2:13‭-‬14‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

‭‭John‬ ‭14:27‬ ‭NIV‬‬

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4:7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

When a new year is about to start, we can’t help but reflect on the year that has just passed. There is often so much focus on what to do, start, or stop in the new year. But what about what we need to receive that has already been given to us?

I will admit that too much of my time can be spent worrying or trying not to worry. Although I have grown in faith especially in the past year, fear often rears its ugly head. Fear will always be a factor in this life, but we have been given such a wonderful gift from Jesus coming to this earth…PEACE. In the face of fear, I want to focus on receiving and reclaiming the peace that God wants us to have in Him…in His power, knowledge, faithfulness, mercy, and never wavering love.

I want to…

Know that I don’t know how everything will work out but He does AND receive His peace

Understand that His ways are higher than my ways AND receive His peace

Know that God does not want me to fear but, instead, trust in Him AND receive His peace

Understand that God holds today and tomorrow in His mighty hands AND receive His peace

My prayer for you (and me):

May you receive the peace already given by our Gracious God and reclaim this gift of peace in every moment. May you Know that His many promises provide a peace that cannot be given by anything in this world. May the time spent in this new year be spent in His precious peace so that others may know where this gift comes from. Amen.
