Everyone longs for security. When fear, insecurity, or instability enters our world, life feels out of control. But that is exactly what life is…full of uncertainty. When you think about it, we all live in a constant state of never knowing what is going to happen the next moment. But we can be certain of two things…
1) There is a constant loving God who is strong, stable, and the same yesterday, today, and forever.
2) Jesus tells us that there will always be trouble. “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 NIV
Trouble is no match for the One who holds our every tomorrow in the palm of His hand. “The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
Deuteronomy 31:8 NIV
When life’s uncertainties become the focus, we need to seek out our strong fortress. Our shelter in the storm. Our firm foundation on shaky ground. There is a place where the peace and power of God defeats fear every single time. That place is when we enter his presence. We can rest in the refuge of our Redeemer. His forever faithfulness is our fortress.
