Pines in winter – photo by Jill Rushbrook
Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:28-31 NIV
Lord I am tired, and yes, I am weary
I find myself sad and often teary
My heart is weighed down, my soul feels so heavy
I stumble and fall, my feet are not steady
I realize my gaze has been looking down
You lift up my chin and I see your crown
Your glory and light and all that is good
You say to look up from where I have stood
And see where I’ve come from, how much I have climbed
And though I am spent, your strength has been mine
It’s there for the taking, your might and your power
If I call upon you, no matter the hour
Your grace is sufficient, your power made perfect
When I’m at my weakest, when I feel deserted
When my understanding just can’t comprehend
The hurts and the pains that don’t seem to end
But you, O Lord, have known them all
You’ve been before me and seen me fall
You’ve held me close and picked me up
You give living water from your cup
You are strong when I am weak
Nothing else do I need to seek
So I look up, when I am down
And I see the One who wears the crown
Who has already won the victory
And knows every part of my story
His strength is mine, his hope alive
That I might live and not just survive
Praise you, O God, who loves me so
I’ll rest in you and see you show
Your strength and might, everlasting power
And blessings that you long to shower…
in my life so I can show to others
That when they are down, they can look to their Father
To Jesus Christ who will make us strong
And He has been there all along.
