Not for Nought

Maine sea grass – photo by Jill Rushbrook

This world will be a blink of an eye

And if l don’t forgive

How unworthy am I

Of the one who forgave my many sins

And breathed life into me

So I would glorify Him

How cruel would it be to hold on to pain

When Jesus died

So I would be born again

Not reborn into anger or reborn into hate

But reborn to BE love

While we anxiously wait…

For Jesus’ return to bring us to glory

This world is a miniscule

Part of the story

This is only the beginning of endless days

Where we will sing

And give God our praise

So let my life on earth be one of love

And point back to God

Up in heaven above

Who gave his son to set us free

Not to be chained in hate

With no change to see

Christ in me is the love that I will show

Despite human hurts

Or what storms may blow

He sees, knows, and redeemed my heart

I will live for Him

And I will do my part

I will trust and have faith that he will guide my way

And when I am done

I will hear him say

“Well done, my child, you served me well

And have shown my love

Your own story to tell

Your story was always part of my plan…

That I give new life

And hope for all man”

Hope for this life and true joy in the next

What a loving God

Who loves us best

A full life now and an eternal tomorrow

Where there’s no more pain

And no more sorrow

This world will be a fleeting thought

But what I do while I’m here

Won’t be for nought!
